Clerk for Planning & Development

Description:
Under the temporary[1] Supervision of the Town Board & Comptroller, the Clerk will be responsible for:

  • Answers departmental telephone and provides routine information.
  • Collects, records, and deposits departmental fees.
  • Maintains applications, licenses, and permits.
  • Maintains and remits departmental time records
  • Sorts, indexes, and files mail,
  • Enters requisitions and prepares vouchers for processing.
  • Pulls material from files, makes simple file searches.
  • Checks reports and records for clerical accuracy and completeness.
  • Makes arithmetical computations and compiles simple statistical reports.
  • Operates personal computer, photocopy, simple computing and other office machines.

Desired Competencies:
Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work on a multitude of assignments, practical experience in an office setting. Proficient user of Microsoft office applications and related programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s  Degree in Secretarial Science, Office Management, Business Administration, or closely related field; OR
  2. B) Graduation from High School or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and two (2) years of hands on clerical experience.
Schedule: Flexible / 20 hours per week. Required attendance at a monthly planning and zoning meeting in the evening.

Compensation: $20.09 per hour.

Ethics Board Members
