AMENDING SECTION §14-15 OF THE ETHICS CODE,
ENTITLED “POLITICAL SOLICITATIONS” SUB- SECTIONS “E”, “F”, AND “G”
Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Milton as follows:
Chapter 14. CODE OF ETHICS
Section 14-15 POLITICAL SOLICITATIONS
Subsections “E”, “F”, and “G”, are hereby removed in their entirety and replaced with the following language:
- E. No Town Officer or Town employee shall hold any office in a political party or political organization. For the purpose of this subsection “E” only, the word “office” shall mean President, Chairman, Vice-President, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and other similar titles, but shall not include serving as a committeeperson of any political party or political organization.
- F. No elected Town official shall serve as a committeeperson of any political party or political organization. All other Town officers and Town employees may serve as committeepersons in any political party or political organization.
- G. Nothing contained herein shall prevent those Town elected officials, Town officers and Town employees who, as of the effective date of this Code of Ethics, currently serve as committeepersons, or who currently hold an office in a political party or political organization, from continuing to do so. Those people shall be grandfathered in and allowed to remain in their current positions.
This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing in the office of the New York Secretary of State.
